Property developers face unique challenges with the City’s billing due to the nature of their work. As property descriptions change following excisions, township establishments, subdivisions or consolidations a considerable number of changes need to be managed on COJ’s end from closure of existing accounts and creation of new accounts to updating the municipal valuations and/or moving the billing for metered services from the old to the new accounts.
If these steps are not managed professionally it’s likely that there will be areas where the City duplicate charges or where services are still billed to historical property descriptions substantial delays may be encountered when a crucial clearance is required.
We’ve assisted in reversing millions of Rands worth of incorrect charges on thousands of accounts over the past 22 years so whether you are looking to recover money spent on erroneous charges or trying to avoid paying erroneous charges in the first place by proactively managing account updates during a development FTA will be able to assist.
As there are so many variables with development accounts we don’t have a standard fee for this service. Data would need to be obtained and a report and quotation will be drafted to deal with the issues which are identified.
A fee of between R989 and R2495 will be quoted for the initial investigation depending on the complexity of the development and the number of accounts involved.
Submit a query providing as much detail as possible (contact us) and we will respond with a quotation to look into your matter or alternatively with a quote to fix the problem if we don’t need to gather additional data first.
